2008 Lambda Literary Awards nominees announced

If the answer is “More than one hundred and seven finalists in twenty-one categories”—the appropriate question would be “How many titles have been announced as finalists in the annual Lambda Literary Awards?” The awards are presented by the Lambda Literary Foundation, America’s leading organization for celebrating GLBT literature. The award ceremony will take place on May 29.

More than eighty judges selected this year’s finalists based on content and writing quality. Books must be focused around GLBT characters and/or events that influence LGBT lives; they must also have meaning to the LGBT community. The story lines may be either original, or they can feature traditional GLBT material that is handled in a new way. Works are also judged on writing quality and the expectations of their genre. Four hundred sixty-three titles were submitted for consideration this year.
